MIFireE, Manager Officer Development, for the New Zealand Fire Service (NZFS).
Mike was appointed to Manager of Officer Development in 2001, having joined the New Zealand Fire Service in 1972,
Mike is on the NZFS Training Leadership Team and is responsible for developing senior firefighters into Station Officer and on through to Executive Officer roles.
Mike was responsible for the introduction of VectorCommand simulation training to Officers of the NZFS, firstly as the Coordinator Simulation Training then as Manager Officer Development. NZFS is the leading user of Simulation Training in Australasian group delivering a variety of training (one on one, brigade exercises, Incident Management Team) to over 2,500 Officers on an annual basis using buses fitted out with VectorCommand simulation facilities.
He was also on the project team that designed and built the National Training Centre in Rotorua. This facility is a world class training centre used to train firefighters from recruit through to incident managers, using live fire props and simulation training.
Mike is married to Marion and has 3 adult boys, Jacob,Benjamin and Ashton.
They live on the Kapiti Coast which is on the west coast, 50km north of Wellington, New Zealand.
Interests include sports, fishing, the outdoors, travel and renovating houses.
